llanberis guides - mountain guiding north Wales

About Llanberis Guides

Llanberis Guides is a website for independent mountain guides in North Wales. It is headed up by Ric Potter and Libby Peter, who are both experienced Guides who have been guiding in Wales and all over the world for the last 20 years.

We offer professional guiding with a spirit for adventure, and our attention to safety will not detract from sharing our passion for climbing with you. We have the highest professional qualifications, however, first and foremost we are keen climbers ourselves so we are confident you'll be appreciative of our depth of experience and local knowledge.

Libby Peter
(IFMGA Mountain Guide, MIC and Coach)
Rock climbing and mountaineering have been central to Libby's life for over 20 years. She has visited many of the major climbing areas in the UK and worldwide, sampling all aspects of climbing from bouldering to high altitude mountaineering and everything in between. In addition to guiding and instructing Libby often writes articles for the climbing press and is the author of Rock Climbing - the official handbook of the Single Pitch and Mountaineering Instructor Awards. Ric Potter
(IFMGA Mountain Guide and MIC)
Ric started climbing in the early eighties, and soon moved to North Wales, inspired by the great routes and vibrant climbing scene. Since then he has climbed and skied in many areas of the world. Since 1991 Ric has worked as an instructor and guide, including spending 6 years living and working full time in the Alps. Ric now divides his time between rock guiding in Wales in the summer, and working as a backcountry ski and snowboard guide in the winter. Contact Ric.

Associate Guides
Some other IFMGA Guides and experienced Mountaineering Instructors (MIC or MIA) work with us from time to time. All of our associates are hand picked for their ability and depth of knowledge. Anyone working with us will be qualified, often to a level beyond what is required, but more importantly they will have a huge amount of personal climbing experience.
